UWP applications have been and are like fresh air for Xbox users. We have seen several necessities covered in a worse or better way from the game console. From mail managers to applications ready to kick the official YouTube one.
It is true that its output is far from being perfect at all, but lots of them have regular updates and have managed to be an important alternative. That is why we are astounded about the last Microsoft movement in which it has removed around 400 apps from Xbox One search results. I will tell you the story because you are likely to not know very well about this matter.
Obtaining an UWP app list compatible with Xbox One were as simple as doing 2 simple searches with two keywords in the console browser. These keywords were “app” and “UWP”, which show a list of more than 470 apps. For us it was very useful because it helped us to find constantly new content. Currently, with these searches, you barely find results of 73 applications.
What have happened with the apps?
Do not panic, apps are still in Xbox store and those that you have bought are there, in fact, if you know their name by heart, it is very easy find them because you just have to type them. As I said before, of where they have disappeared is of the searches of these two keywords that agglutinated almost all of them in the same list.
It is possible that Microsoft is draining results in order that they will be more reliable but, it is true that we do not understand in which way this can help users due to there is no a section for apps and it is impossible to find new content recommended. This fact has been happening since yesterday morning, it is possible that it just be either a browser maintenance process or changes that imply deeper future changes.
As I said before, a section for applications is necessary, there are over than 480 and increasing.
